I first became involved with dogs in the late 70s when I had two completely spoiled and unruly Yorkshire Terriers. I joined West Houston Obedience Dog Club and trained them for competition and did my own grooming. My next dogs were also trained and competed in obedience and one was shown in breed competition and again, I did my own grooming.
My next venture with dogs was as an obedience instructor. I taught at a local facility and at San Jacinto South Campus. Eleven years ago I opened Clear Lake Dog Wash and began grooming full time and teaching obedience as well until the shop required too much of my time and energy.
I have since concentrated on learning as much as possible through doing, reading, attending conferences and seminars, and participation in an internet group of almost 1000 groomers. My continuing education includes the following:
1999 - Intergroom
2000 and 2001 - Tufts University Veterinary School’s Animal Expo
2003 - Lone Star Grooming Conference
2004 - Atlanta Pet Fair
2006 - Cesar Milan, The Dog Whisperer
